Eileen Ivers @ ENGL007: Immigrant Women's Writings in America
Eileen Ivers, a renowned Irish fiddler, came to my freshmen seminar class to give a lecture and performance. She was to perform at the Hopkins Center on the evening of her visit. The themes of her performance, mainly focusing on immigration, overlapped with the class' topic. Music often functions as a medium of expression for longing, and Eileen's tunes has proven to be a very powerful and emotional means of conveying those nostalgia.
This exciting experience was possible thanks to the collabroation between the Hopkins center and the college administration.
